KSS Architects is an architecture, planning, and interior design firm with offices in New York, Philadelphia, and Princeton. Since our founding in 1983, we have built an impressive portfolio of work for clients who are leaders in education, land development, commercial real estate, and corporate environments. We founded our practice on the strength of a collegial approach to problem-solving.   • HR Manager

    The Human Resources Manager position will be responsible for executing a comprehensive human resource strategy as well as managing all day-to-day HR functions including, but not limited to: administrative support, recruiting, benefits, onboarding, payroll processing, and specialized tasks and services to support the operations of the HR Department. The incumbent will have the option of working from either the Princeton or Philadelphia office. 

    Essential Functions:

    • Enhance the firm’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
    • Provide guidance to the partners by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
    • Be actively involved in recruitment by preparing job descriptions, posting ads, and managing the hiring process.
    • Administrator biweekly payroll.
    • Implements employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to the partners; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit bids.
    • Create and implement effective onboarding plans.
    • Develop training and development programs.
    • Support the partners of disciplinary and grievance issues.
    • Maintain employee records (attendance, EEO data etc.) according to policy and legal requirements.
    • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource city, federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.

    Required:

    • BS/BA in human resources, business administration, management, or relevant field
    • PHR/SPHR certification required
    • 5+ years of experience in a HR position
    • Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
    • Understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
    • Strong ethics and reliability

    Preferred:

    • Experience with Deltek

  • Senior Marketing Professional

    The Marketing Department plays a significant role in communicating our firm’s mission and values, and strategically aligning these with those of potential clients and projects. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate their ideas and approach in a clear and thoughtful manner, work well within a collaborative team atmosphere and should be passionate about exceptional design.

    The Senior Marketing professional will support a wide breadth of department responsibilities, in a dynamic and high-energy environment. The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s or master’s degree at minimum and 5-10 years of experience in a marketing role for a professional services firm. A degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Writing or a related discipline is preferred. Experience with project lifecycles, marketing campaigns, design, and/or the A/E/C industry is a plus. This position can be based in either our Philadelphia or Princeton office with the expectation to be present in both office locations as required. This position is a direct report and supporting role to the Executive Director of Marketing Strategy.

    Senior Marketing Role and Responsibilities:

    Team Management – Oversee and manage marketing department priorities and workload, employ methods to measure and analyze team performance. Serve as a resource for decisions and help problem solve day-to-day issues. Mentor team to improve their skills and effectiveness within the firm. Develop necessary processes, and improve existing ones, to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

    Project Pursuits - Managing preparation of qualifications, proposals and presentations (from start to finish) and provide research required for all project opportunities ensuring consistency with firm strategy and brand identity.

    Content Organization – Develop framework and manage content organization strategy including file structure, written and visual content, and implementation of Open Asset. (2019 Initiative). Monitor continued adherence to the established structure over time.

    Marketing Plan – Support the development of the marketing plan and help implement strategies using internal and external resources 

    Communications Strategy

    • Support development of annual strategy
    • Drive the strategy as it relates to pushing content using internal and external resources to implement.
    • Track performance analysis and report to leadership monthly

    Social Media Strategy

    • Develop the annual strategy as it relates to the communications
    • Drive the strategy using internal resources to implement
    • Track performance analysis and report to leadership monthly 

    Marketing Initiatives

    • Support development of annual strategic marketing initiatives
    • Develop implementation plan, manage and track performance analysis for one to three strategic initiatives each year. 

    Administrative Responsibilities

    • Provide general marketing-related administrative duties such as oversight of budget tracking, speaking and awards tracking, proposal tracking, annual contract agreements with existing and potential clients

    Required Skills:

    5-1o years of experience in related industry with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field

    Management of people and process

    Ability to understand and drive strategy

    Organizational skills to oversee data and content management

    Experience with implementing communications plans – knowledge of social media platforms

    Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills

    Knowledge of programs being used in marketing department (better understanding of workload and work plans/deadlines) – Required - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Adobe Acrobat/Reader, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator; Preferred - Deltek, Open Asset and Tableau

  • Marketing Coordinator

The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree at minimum and 1-3 years of experience in a marketing/proposal development role for a professional services firm. A degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Writing or a related discipline is preferred. Experience with project lifecycles, marketing campaigns, design, and/or the A/E/C industry is a plus.

    Marketing Coordinator Role and Responsibilities:

    The Marketing Coordinator will support a wide breadth of projects, including proposal development, graphics development, content development, communications and public relations, opportunity forecasting, website maintenance, and internal/external coordination:

    • Prepare, edit, and assemble proposals, qualifications, presentations ranging in size and complexity from single page letters to multi-volume bound submissions.
    • Prepare presentations and interview materials for client interviews, speaking opportunities, and other engagements.
    • Collaborate with design teams, administration, consultants, and partner firms.
    • Plan, organize, and maintain accurate website pages, project pages, resumes, business cards, and other project-related data for marketing use.
    • Format, edit, and graphics creation for web, digital, and print collateral.
    • Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
    • Develop graphic content including organizational charts, infographics, tables, and other technical and non-technical graphics that stay in line with brand standards
    • Support the coordination of conferences, speaking engagements, professional networking events, and company events.
    • Accomplish additional miscellaneous as-needed projects to support marketing campaign developments and targeted efforts, ex. social/professional networking presence, email blasts.

    Required Skills and Capabilities:

    Required:

    Fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Adobe Acrobat/Reader, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator

    Effective verbal, interpersonal, and written communication.

    Ability to work with quick turnaround times while balancing multiple priorities and dynamic workloads with minimal supervision.

    Creative mindset with understanding of visual language and ability to transform ideas from concept into final product.

    Ability to execute short-term goals infused with long term initiatives.

    Preferred:

    Previous experience with content management systems such as Deltek, Open Asset and Tableau. Skills in photography, video production, social media platforms, technical research, data analysis and interactive visualization, interactive software

    Proven graphic design experience.

  • Architecture/Interior Design Summer Intern (0-1 year’s experience)

    Located in Philadelphia, Princeton, or New York City Office

     This position is for a summer intern. We are looking for a creative, talented and team-oriented candidate. You should be passionate about design, work well across multiple teams, and communicate your ideas and approach in a clear and thoughtful manner. You will work collectively with our dynamic firm to develop innovative and thoughtful solutions for a wide range of clients and project types.

    Requirements and skills:

    • Strong design and conceptual development skills and a passion for design excellence
    •  Ability to work closely and collaboratively on a project team
    • Highly organized, with an eye for detail and ability to iterate design ideas
    • Strong and respectful verbal and written skills; within the office and with consultants, contractors and clients
    • A commitment to responsibility, integrity, and accuracy
    • Some experience with client interface preferred
    • Strong design and visualization skills
    • Experience with REVIT, AUTOCAD and 3-D modeling programs and Adobe Creative Suite
    • Legal working status in the United States
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
