Built in 1964 as part of a six-building residential complex, Grasselli Hall is a residence hall that has recently served as the home for Widener University’s nursing and engineering housing communities. The renovation includes three floors of dorm rooms, the conversion of attic space into suite and lofts, and modifications to the common spaces throughout the building. The demand for the space required the project to follow an accelerated construction schedule of just six months.
KSS Architects was brought into the project by the builder and design-build lead, HSC Builders, as a code consultant to accelerate permit approvals at both the Commonwealth and local levels. Through a diligent, well-managed process, KSS was able to meet the University’s demanding schedule, which included obtaining a variance approval.
