Project Details

LEED Gold Distribution Center

KSS and Liberty Property Trust (LPT) are proven collaborators, having worked together to develop corporate design standards known as “Fundamental Liberty.” Liberty at Middlesex, an 800,000-square-foot distribution center, is the first project on which KSS and LPT have collaborated outside of the design standards. Built at the intersection of I-81 and Harrisburg Pike, Liberty at Middlesex is strategically located in one of the fastest-growing distribution hubs in the Eastern United States.

Given the site’s location in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the team developed a design language to fit both the client’s desires and the aesthetic of rural central Pennsylvania. The design language comes through in the earth-toned color scheme, lush landscape, and stone-like formliner concrete panels that break up the tilt-up concrete façade. To assign maximum square footage to warehouse space, and to capitalize on natural light, the northeast and southwest corners extend outward to accommodate flexible office spaces. The 40-foot clear, cross-dock facility features an elaborate conveyor and automated racking system.

Liberty at Middlesex achieved LEED Gold certification, with notable credits achieved for “innovation in design.”
