A website for Trenton Ferry, developed by HHG Development Associates, includes photos of the recently completed Cracker Factory and Everett Corner Developments in South Trenton. What is remarkable is the successful sales (85 percent sold) in the current housing market and financial crisis. There is a desire in central New Jersey for alternatives to the small towns and suburbs that are so dominant in this region. While Trenton still faces the challenges of dealing with endemic urban problems, the structure of the city and its vast housing stock of high quality late-19th century architecture offers hope for its continued revitalization. As a 10-year resident of the city, I hope to see an even greater expansion of projects like these and additional developers ready to bet on the value of architecture.
